Shopify launched a new app

On May 15th, Shopify launched a new Order Printer app, and announced that they will be closing down their old Order Printer app on August 31st 2024. You can read Shopify's own announcement of this change here.

Note: Shopify now has 2 apps named Order Printer. To make things easier, we will call the new one "the new Shopify Order Printer app" and the old one "the old Shopify Order Printer (legacy) app".

New templating system - not fully compatible with their old app

Shopify have created a new templating system in their new Shopify Order Printer app, which are not compatible with the old Shopify Order Printer (legacy) templates without changes.

Shopify have now released an importer, and we've been working with them to ensure the new Shopify Order Printer app will support the features available in our custom templates, such as custom fonts, barcodes etc.

Our custom templates are currently compatible with the old Shopify Order Printer (legacy) app and our own Order Printer Pro app. We are working towards making them fully compatible with the new Shopify Order Printer app in the near future.

Current recommendation

You can safely continue using your custom template in the old Order Printer (legacy) app until August 31st, or in our Order Printer Pro app with no restrictions. You can also use the new "Import" feature in the new Shopify Order Printer app to bring in your existing templates from the old Shopify Order Printer (legacy) app, including our custom templates.

We will update information in this help article, the notice shown when you login to the app, as well as by email once we have more information.
